The new squash season is approaching and the Junior Squash coaching sessions are up and running on Saturday mornings from 9 - 10.30am.

Aylesbury Squash Club recently invested in qualifying five new Level 1 squash coaches with the aim of giving fresh impetus, ideas and enthusiasm into Junior Squash. Along with our existing very experienced Level 2/3 coaches, we aim to welcome new children to squash, bring on some of the vey promising youngsters and primarily make sure that all children attending have fun and really enjoy the sport of squash.

The sessions run on the following dates this term:
17/9, 24/9, 01/10, 08/10, 15/10 - HALF TERM - 5/11, 12/11, 19/11, 26/11, 03/12, 10/12


The main points to take note of are as follows:

MINIMUM AGE
The guideline is for the child to be 10 years of age and above which best suits the structured nature of the sessions

SESSION DETAILS
Each session run from 9:00 am to 10:30 am
The sessions consist of structured coaching from 9:00 to 10:00am followed by more relaxed and informal squash related games and/or optional competitive matches (A Junior Squash ladder is a possibility depending on demand)

COST
Session costs are £3 for members and £5 for non-members.


EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
Squash rackets, suited to age and ability are supplied by the club. The child has the option to use his/her own racket
Each child must wear non-marking indoor sports shoes and appropriate sports clothing
Aylesbury Squash Club recommend that each child should wear safety goggles whilst on court. These goggles can be purchased at a discounted price from the club on the day

PARENTAL CONSENT
A parental consent form for each child attending must be completed and signed before participation in the sessions

Junior Team - match report
The first match of 2012 saw a very good performance from the Aylesbury Junior Team, everyone played up as Ben Nosko our No. 1 couldn't play.

At '5' Tom Gaskell came in and gave a very controlled and accomplished performance that saw him to a comfortable 3-0 victory. Well done Tom for maintaining your concentration throughout all of the match!!
At '4' Tom Lane started sluggishly against a consistent opponent losing the first two games, after a little encouragement he upped the pace and power and won the next three! Well played Tom.
At '3' Dan Ambrose had a tough match against a pretty good player and got to 3 match points at 2-1 only to squander them! However Dan won the fifth comfortably. Although not his best performance he dug in and got the win!
At '2' Elliot Smith won 3-0 against a player that should not have been playing at '2' !!! Elliot was far to good and easily won the match 3-0, well played Elliot.
At '1' Alex came up against a very good player who could easily be playing at '1' in the 1st division!! Alex dug in and never gave up in the rallies and took 7 points off him in the 3rd game with some very good play!

So the two close games at '3' and '4' proved decisive in the end and gave us a points score of 16-7 in our favour, a very good win.
